We have professional piercers on staff.  At Blackwork, we upkeep a clean and safe environment. Our equipment is sterilized twice and we use a new needle for each puncture.

Piercing Aftercare Instructions

 What to expect

  • Swelling

  • Bleeding/Dried Blood

  • Fluid

  • Sensitivity/Soreness

  • Redness

  • Crusting

  • Itching

​

Do's

  • Wash hands before touching/cleaning piercing(s)

  • Rinse with warm shower water

  • Spray with Sterile Saline/Wound Wash 2x daily

  • Gently pat dry with a clean paper towel or blow dry on low & cool setting after using the spray and showering

  • Downsize your post 4-6 weeks after initial piercing

  • Use a piercings/travel pillow

  • Rinse oral piercings with non-alcohol mouthwash and water

  • Use regular toothpaste (no whitening toothpaste)

  • Downsize jewelry/post (multiple downsizes maybe recommended)

Do NOT

  • Twist, turn, hit, or snag jewelry

  • Change your own jewelry in the first year

  • Change to a hoop until your piercing is completely healed (approx 12 months)

  • Use or soak your titanium jewelry in hydrogen peroxide

  • Use alcohol to clean your piercings

  • Go swimming in chlorinated/ocean water, or tanning until piercing is fully healed

  • Apply makeup on the wound area

  • Wear tight clothing over piercings

  • Sleep on piercings

  • Leave piercings/jewelry wet

  • Sleep with with wet hair or allow wet hair to rest on healing piercings

  • Eat crunchy or spicy foods for initial oral piercings
